Discover the Power of Axial Flux Generators

At GreenSpur, we specialise in developing axial flux generator technology that revolutionises power generation. Unlike traditional radial flux designs, axial flux generators are more compact, lightweight, and offer superior efficiency. Our axial flux generators are designed to meet the most demanding needs of modern industries, whether you're operating offshore, in renewable energy, or in marine environments. With our advanced technology, you benefit from more power in a smaller, more flexible footprint.

How Axial Flux Technology Works:

Axial flux generators differ from traditional generators by aligning the magnetic field along the axis of rotation rather than radially.

This design allows for a much thinner, more compact generator without sacrificing power output. The reduced size and weight make axial flux generators especially valuable in applications where space and transportability are critical, such as offshore installations and renewable energy farms.

One of the key advantages of axial flux generators is their increased power density. By utilising a flat, disc-like design, they provide a higher surface area for electromagnetic interaction, resulting in greater efficiency and energy output. This also means they require fewer materials and components, reducing overall costs and simplifying maintenance.

Material Flexibility: Ferrites vs Neodymium:

What sets our axial flux generators apart is their adaptability with a variety of materials, depending on your needs. With our proprietary magnet construction technology, we offer flexibility in magnetic material options.

For businesses aiming to minimise environmental impact, we provide ferrite-based solutions that are rare-earth-free and environmentally friendly. Ferrites are abundantly available, mechanically strong, highly corrosion-resistant, and extremely cost-effective. By using ferrites, businesses can avoid the geopolitical complexities associated with rare-earth materials like neodymium, praseodymium, and dysprosium.

However, if maximum power output and lightweight design are your top priorities, we also offer generators designed with neodymium magnets. Neodymium offers the highest energy density, making it the ideal choice for companies needing peak performance in a lightweight form. Whether choosing ferrites for sustainability or neodymium for power and lightness, our axial flux technology ensures optimal performance.

Electrical Conductor Material: Aluminium vs. Copper Winding

Our advanced stator construction includes an iron-core-free design, eliminating iron losses commonly seen in traditional radial flux generators with yokes. This design choice results in improved electrical efficiency.

Our stator coils are made from aluminium rather than copper. The conductor fill factor of aluminium windings reaches up to 96%, compared to approximately 80% in copper windings. With this development, we've made it possible to substitute copper with aluminium, even with its lower current-carrying capacity.

Our aluminium coil technology boasts superior heat dissipation—up to 100 times better than copper coils—due to the absence of enamel insulation coating and the reduction of air gaps within the coil winding. This allows for a more efficient air-cooling method instead of the traditional liquid-cooling system.

Substituting copper coils with aluminium coils also offers significant weight and cost savings, potentially reducing both by up to 70%.

The Future of Power Generation:

Axial flux technology is paving the way for the next generation of power generation solutions. It offers scalability, efficiency, and flexibility, making it an ideal choice for businesses looking to stay ahead in a competitive market. Whether you operate on land or at sea, our generators are designed to meet the challenges of the modern world while offering significant cost and energy savings.
